Tatra التشيكية تبدع من جديد باحدث شاحنات عسكرية من احدث جيل 8×8 PRAM Photos: Retraining exercise for Tatra 815 8×8 PRAM trucks drivers Military truck drivers from the 71st Mechanised Battalion of the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic, based at Hranice, are at present undergoing a retraining exercise on the operation of the Tatra 815 8×8 PRAM trucks. The trucks, which will replace the older Praga V3S vehicles, were delivered to the unit at the end of 2017. The new trucks are especially designed to transport the PRAM L mortars 120 mm (M M1982). “The aim of this exercise is to ensure that the drivers are competent not only in how to manoeuvre the new vehicles in various types of terrain, but also capable of carrying out basic maintenance and repairs. The drivers must prove that they can safely operate the vehicle under very specific driving conditions,” explained Master Sergeant Jiri Pospisil, the training coordinator. This year, one mortar platoon from the 71st Mechanised Battalion will be participating in NATO´s “enhanced Forward Presence” (eFP) in Latvia and Poland. The KTO Rosomak (KTO for Kołowy Transporter Opancerzony – pol. Wheeled Armored Vehicle; Rosomak is Polish for Wolverine) is 8×8 multi-role military vehicle produced by WZM S.A. (Wojskowe Zakłady Mechaniczne Spółka Akcyjna w Siemianowicach Śląskich – lit. Military Mechanical Works Joint Stock Company in Siemianowice Śląskie). The vehicle is a licensed variant of Patria’s Armored Modular Vehicle. In December 2002, the Polish Ministry of National Defense signed a contract to buy 690 Patria AMV vehicles, to be manufactured in Poland. The main competitors of the AMV were the MOWAG Piranha and Steyr Pandur. The Polish version features major changes from the original Patria AMV, such as the ability to be transported by C-130 Hercules or to swim through water obstacles. As part of the initial order of 690 vehicles were to be delivered in two basic variants: 313 combat IFV and 377 transport/special base vehicles. In October 2013 order increased to 997 for delivery between 2014 and 2019,[ vehicles will be delivered in following versions: 359 combat vehicles armed with a 30mm gun turret, some also armed with Spike ATGM; 122 combat vehicles armed with an unmanned 30mm gun turret and Spike ATGM; 516 base line vehicles used as a base for other variants. The name Rosomak (Polish for Wolverine) was chosen following a contest organized by the Nowa Technika Wojskowa magazine. The Rosomak will replace obsolete OT-64 SKOT APCs and partially the BWP-1 IFV currently in service with Polish Land Forces. patria.fi
